What do we do when your regular English-singing artists release a single in the language you’re actively [okay, sometimes] learning?
I remember Demi Lovato playing Mitchie in Camp Rock, all over Shane [Joe Jonas], and whatnot. Of course I learnt byheart every single song on the tracklist [Hasta La Vista being the absolute banger it is – here’s the YouTube], my all-time Camp Rock series song is Introducing Me, though, I can still rock it out [in the shower, of course] to Nick Jonas.
I digress [as usual]. Let’s look at Despacito fame Luis Fonsi’s collaboration with Demi, Échame la culpa [blame me].

Luis Fonsi, Demi Lovato – Échame La Culpa [Blame it on me] [Spanish to English translation] [Español a Inglés]
La letra
Lyrics
Hey Fonsi
Oh no (qué pasa Demi)
Oh no (what’s up Demi)
Hmm
Hey yeah
Tengo en esta historia algo que confesar
I have in this story, something to confess
Ya entendí muy bien qué fue lo que pasó
I already understood very well what happened
Y aunque duela tanto, tengo que aceptar
And although it hurts so much, I have to accept
Que tú no eres la mala, que el malo soy yo
That you are not the bad one, that it is me
No me conociste nunca de verdad
You never truly knew me
Ya se fue la magia que te enamoró
The magic that made you fall in love is gone
Y es que no quisiera estar en tu lugar
And it’s just that I don’t want to be in your place
Porque tu error solo fue conocerme
Because your only mistake was knowing me
[No eres tú, no eres tú, no eres tú, soy yo (soy yo)
It’s not you, it’s not you, it’s not you, it is me (it is me)
No te quiero hacer sufrir
I don’t want you to suffer
Es mejor olvidar y dejarlo así (así)
It is better to forget and leave this as-is
–I love that ‘así’ just means ‘as-is’
Échame la culpa
Blame it on me] X2
I don’t really, really wanna fight anymore
I don’t really, really wanna fake it no more
Play me like The Beatles, baby, just let it be
So come and put the blame on me, yeah
I don’t really, really wanna fight anymore
I don’t really, really wanna fake it no more
Play me like The Beatles, baby, just let it be
So come and put the blame on me, yeah
[No eres tú, no eres tú, no eres tú, soy yo (soy yo)
It’s not you, it’s not you, it’s not you, it is me (it is me)
No te quiero hacer sufrir
I don’t want you to suffer
Es mejor olvidar y dejarlo así (así)
It is better to forget and leave this as-is
Échame la culpa
Blame it on me] X2
[Solamente te falta un beso
You only need a kiss
Solamente te falta un beso
You only need a kiss
Ese beso que siempre te prometí
That kiss that I always promised you
Échame la culpa
Blame it on me] X2
