Mala fama – Danna Paola [Spanish to English translation]

I don’t remember how I came across this song, but I’m surprised I was sleeping on it for so long.

A great dance pop hit, from one of the main characters of the Netflix Spanish teen drama, Elite. And the song basically tells people to mind their own business – what an anthem! But also, it’s one of the songs where the more I read the non-chorus lyrics, the less sense they make to me? I don’t know, you tell me.

So let’s groove to this Danna Paola hit [it also has a remix, btw] and dance to the tunes of Mala Fama [Bad reputation / Notoriety].

La letra
Lyrics

Fama, dicen que tengo mala fama
Reputation, they say I have a bad reputation
That I fall in love at night and it goes away in the morning
Culpa, lo siento no tengo la culpa
Blame, I’m sorry I am not the one to blame
That they don’t give me enough, that I am demanding, and that the babies are frightened

Firstly, let him he single, with a brain he would be two
–I feel like this is some kind of a burn but I just don’t get it?
That he is going happily to the third and is in a good mood
–Third WHAT? I’m getting nervous now.

Así sí, sí lo quiero para mí, mí
So yes, yes I want it for me, me
Whenever I find him, no no, I won’t let him leave from here
Y así sí, sí lo quiero para mí, mí
So yes, yes I want it for me, me
Whenever I find him, no no, I won’t let him leave
Mira que no, yo no lo suelto
Look, I won’t let him go

No, que si me fui con Maluma
No, if I did go out with Maluma
–Ooh, will do a Maluma song translation soon!
No, dicen que Yatra y Ozuna
No, they say it’s either Yatra and Ozuna
–Un Año by Sebastian Yatra here 🙂 Will definitely do more of him, great songs
No, yo duermo sola en mi cama
No, I sleep alone in my bed
Y no me preocupa mi mala fama
And I don’t worry about my bad reputation

Yo hago lo que quiero, si me da la gana
I do whatever I want, if I feel like it
I don’t look for a Romeo over the weekend
One who sells me the stars without taking me to the sky/heaven
False promises, carried away with the wind

Vuela que vuela que se perdió
Fly away, fly away and it is lost
If there is a culprit, it is not me
If I say no, it is because I don’t want to

But only to the right one, will I put it on
–Someone please explain this to me??

Vuela que vuela que se perdió
Fly away, fly away and it is lost
If there is a culprit, it is not me
If I say no, it is because I don’t want to but to the right one

Así sí, sí lo quiero para mí, mí
So yes, yes I want it for me, me
Whenever I find him, no no, I won’t let him leave from here
Y así sí, sí lo quiero para mí, mí
So yes, yes I want it for me, me
Whenever I find him, no no, I won’t let him leave
Mira que no, yo no lo suelto
Look, I won’t let him go

No, que si me fui con Maluma
No, if I did go out with Maluma
No, que si Neymar o que Ozuna
No, they say it’s either Neymar or Ozuna
No, yo duermo sola en mi cama
No, I sleep alone in my bed
Y no me preocupa mi mala fama
And I don’t worry about my bad reputation

Firstly, let him he single, with a brain he would be two
That he is going happily to the third and is in a good mood

Welp, this was fun. Someone tell me what on earth is going on in this song, yes? I mean, I know that pop songs are strictly not supposed to make 100% sense, but I would still like to know.
